Soccer Season Starting

It is the official start of soccer season! Kaitlynn is playing on a USA competition team this year, it has been a huge comittment but also really fun. She is learning so much and improving a ton! We had our first game tonight - we lost 1-0 but it was a really good game. We dominated the entire game just had trouble finishing it off with a goal. I will post pictures soon and also post the game schedule.

17 AGAIN???

We saw the movie 17 Again today - it was a great movie! Definately not one to miss! It is about a 30 something man, with a crummy job, 2 teenage kids and his wife is filing for divorce. He transforms into himself at 17 for a chance to do it all over again.

This got me thinking - if you could go back to when you were 17 or heck even when you were 25, would you do it? What would you change? Do you really think your life would be better if you had the chance to do it all over again?

Want to know my take on it? Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. If I had the chance to do it all over again I wouldn't take it. I think we only have one path in this life and mistakes will be made (I've made my fair share!) but if I did it all differently I would not be the person I am today. I probably would not have such a great husband and a fantastic daughter that I adore. I always hear "If I only knew now, what I knew then..." I wouldn't want to know what is going to happen or what the future brings, it is better when you learn from your trials and you appreciate it more.

That is my fifty cents...for what it is worth! Bottom line -- go see the movie!

On another ramble, Zac Efron was the star of this movie (17 Again) - he is a terrific actor! He is so DREAMY... those EYES are to die for! If he was 10 years older or I was 10 years younger....that is another story entirely!

Where have we been?

Did you think the Young's dropped off the face of the earth? You've checked our blog often wondering 'What's new?' but you have seen no updates. Next thing you know you're thinking 'What has happened to them?' 'Are they okay?' 'Did Jody murder Cory and move on to a better life?' But you know that wouldn't happen, because Jody loves Cory more than anything...

I mean, who wouldn't?

Nah, we are still here alive and kickin' and enjoying life. Here are a few things that happened the first few months of 2009...

January was a busy time, trying to catch up after Christmas vacation and getting ready for Jody's yearly trip to Vegas. It was a good time this year, my BFF Megan and I actually went to a dinner show - it was totally cool. We saw Jay Leno, Whitney Houston, The Temptations and Justin Timberlake (I was lucky and got my pic taken with Justin).

Ok, it wasn't really Justin ~ it was an impersonator but the show was really great! Megan and I had a blast, even though we had to work most of the time!

February was a really hard month...my grandpa died on February 6th. He had been really sick for a while and had been living in a special care facility and was rushed to the hospital on February 3rd – we spent 3 days at the hospital hoping he would get better and come home. That didn’t happen but he was in so much pain we were relieved he would not be in pain any more but will miss him.

He was a great man – his love for his family was unconditional and he was rich with so many blessings. I have never seen an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, brothers, sisters that love each other so much and really enjoy being together. Herman Crosley Wilcox, we thank you for the gift of our family. We would not be here if it weren’t for you! We will see you again on the other side – save me some corn beef and cabbage - No split pea soup for me!
Then 10 days later my Great Aunt Anita Roberts passed away. She had cancer for the past 2 years and was very ill. She was so young – and such a wonderful woman that she was taken from us way too soon.

There was some good in February – I finally got the puppy I’ve been looking for! Her name is Marley, she was 3 ½ months old when we got her on February 4th and she is adorable! She is so much fun, we all love her very much!

She is now 6 months old – birthday October 21, 2008 and is still the joy in our life. I love coming home from work and she is so excited to see me! Kaitlynn & Cory love her so much, it is amazing how after only a couple of months she is such a big part of our family!

Just for fun, here is a picture of our cat that we have had for many years – Shadow. He & Marley are not getting along very well but we hope they will start to be the best of friends soon.

Then in March we had our long awaited Creative Memories Park City Spring retreat – it was a ton of fun! We had a great group this time. Grandma, Debbie, Joann, Crissy, Katie, Heather, Mom, Jesse and me and we had a blast! It was Grandma, Debbie & Joann’s first time and they did great and had a great time. I hope we can all get together every year.

Easter was good this year, we started a new tradition (I hope) to get together with the Wilcox clan and have an easter egg hunt for the kids – this year it was at Joanne’s house and the kids had so much fun! I love just getting together with my family, everyone is so wonderful and really enjoy spending time together. Thanks to my great cousin Heather for setting it up this year and to my great Wilcox family for being so fabulous!

Now it is mid-April and Spring has Sprung! I will try to be more regular about blogging for those who care to read about my boring life! ‘Til next time – stay safe and happy!
